MCGINNIS-LAPELLE

Christine McGinnis LaPelle, 82, of Philadelphia, award winning artist, co-owner of Rodger
LaPelle Galleries, printmaker died on September 7 th at her residence at Sunrise Senior Living
home in Abington.
Ms. McGinnis was the wife of fellow artist and printmaker, Rodger LaPelle. Together for over
60 years, they dared to pave a way of life for new and upcoming artists in the Philadelphia
community. A carriage house in Germantown in Awbury Arboretum was their home for over 50
years where Christine painted in her studio there.

Christine is survived by her husband Rodger LaPelle, brother Andrew McGinnis and wife Lillian
McGinnis, sisters-in-law Nancy LaPelle and Susan Fahlund, brothers-in-law Elliott Feldman and Car
and wife Joanne Papendick; nieces Cynthia Papendick, Jayne McGinnis, Cecilia Griffith, Natalie
Feldman, Shannon Feldman and Alyssa Feldman, great-nieces Téa and Aubrey Feldman-Flagiello;
And many close friends who have helped through the years: Bruce and Lisa Evans, Robert
Waddington, Ben Long, Joe Naujokas, Fred Danzinger, Jeanine LeClaire, and many more among
the Philadelphia artist community.
A celebration of an artist’s life will take place Sunday, September 15 th , 2019 from 2-5pm at
Abington Art Center, 515 Meetinghouse Road, Jenkintown, PA. All friends and family are
invited to celebrate.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Christine’s honor to support upcoming artists can be made to
Fleisher Art Memorial or The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
